Structural Adhesives
Structural Adhesives: Toughened structural adhesives combine superior performance and strength with the tough properties of rubber. The cured polymer is highly cross-linked and can withstand shock and peel forces which normally fracture other adhesives.
They are 2-part systems designed for simple, no-mix application in a high speed production environment. The adhesive is applied to one surface and activator is sprayed or painted to the other. Curing begins when the two surfaces are assembled. These are based on epoxy and methacrylate chemistry. Compared to mechanical fixings, the use of adhesives brings advantages including:
- Gap filling
- Sealing
- Even Stress Distribution
- Corrosion protection
- Speed of cure
- Impact resistance
- Bonding to virtually all surfaces
- Long term performance in demanding environments
- High shear and peel strength
- Flexibility
